Pastor Emeritus Steve Swagger was called to be the pastor of Layton Chapel Baptist Church in April of 1991. He was a US Navy veteran and a graduate of Tennessee Temple University. He also served for many years as the Chaplain for the Harnett County Highway Patrol, which gave him opportunities to support, encourage, and minister to the Troopers. He and his wife Brenda, have two sons (Jeff and Joe), and four grandchildren.
Steve retired in April of 2021 after 30 years of ministry at Layton Chapel. He was lovingly called “Preacher” by almost all who knew him. God called this faithful servant home to Glory on Friday, May 5th, 2023.
