Staff - John Chancey

John Chancey is originally from Lyons, Georgia. He was saved at the age of four, and the Lord called him into the ministry when he was 13 years old. During his teen years, he was mentored by Pastor Don Gibbs (now retired) of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons. While attending Trinity Baptist College to train for the ministry, John fell in love with Bethany McGowan. They have been married since June 1, 2007.

Just before he graduated from Trinity, John was introduced to Pastor Steve Swagger. After several meetings with the Pastor, and much prayer, John accepted the invitation to come to Layton Chapel to minister to the students. He has been serving at LCBC since July 1, 2007. Prior to coming to LCBC, John was interim Youth Pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Sarasota, Florida, where Bethany's dad is the Pastor.

In addition to being the Assistant Pastor, John is also in charge of the Youth Ministries at Layton Chapel Baptist Church.

In his spare time, John enjoys reading, playing music, and spending time with his lovely wife. His favorite verse is Romans 10:11 "For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed."
